Kaléa was shipped back to Cowes from Genoa in April 2019 where the owner undertook a substantial restoration, finally launching in June 2023.

New custom made coach-roof hand rails
All 22 ports removed, dismantled and re-chromed
Foredeck hatch stripped and repaired and fittings chromed
Lazerette hatch stripped and repaired and fittings chromed
All side cabin coamings, external cockpit coamings and front of saloon house coaming, middle laminate repaired and epoxied, new outer laminate fitted in African Mahogany, all finished in 8 coats of Awlwood
Owner's cabin hatch garage and hatch removed, hatch rebuilt and all reinstalled
2 new melon sky lights installed over guest cabins
Soft area of aft cabin top at mizzen step repaired
New s/steel mizzen mast collar and gaiter
Cabin tops sanded, 3 coats of Penguard epoxy primer/undercoat and 2 coats International Perfect Pro cream
New Burma Teak capping rail (150mm x 42mm) fitted to entire ship, finished in 8 coats of Awlwood
32 10mm copper limber pipes epoxied at the back of each Mahogany gunwale stanchion to prevent water tracking between the stanchion and the gunwale
Gunwale and covering board stripped, covering board replaced in way of chain plates, 7 new gunwale stanchions, gunwale rebuilt as required and all finished in 3 coats of Penguard epoxy primer/undercoat and 2 coats International Perfection cream

Hull Structure:

Removal of chain plates and inner grounding plates and substantial repairs to the mid-ships topside planking, beam shelves and frames – see separate listing detail
Old pitch removed from the bilge in the main mast area and two new coats of pitch burned in
Bilges cleaned and painted through, steel floors brushed and painted with red oxide, all finished in 2 coats of Danboline grey
2 x Ballast bolts removed, inspected and replaced
Short and repaired planks below waterline replace with greater lengths, rivet fastened through the laminated frames and with butt blocks
Hull repainted 3 coats of Penguard epoxy primer/undercoat and 3 coats of International Perfection Pro white gloss
Epifanes gold leaf painted cove line and scrolls sealed with Awlwood
Hull 3 coats of EU45 antifouling

Mechanical:

Main engine lifted out and given a substantial overhaul and repainted
New Halyard designed exhaust system
Replacement of engine bearing bolts, coupling bolts
2 new 200Ah main engine start batteries
New aft shaft coupling
Propeller and shaft removed, new 4 bladed VariProp feathering propeller fitted
Hydraulic steering removed, pump serviced and new pipework installed
Manual bilge pump serviced and installed with new pipework direct from bilge to overboard with anti-syphon
Main bilge pump pipework renewed with anti-syphon
Diesel tanks pumped out, their interiors cleaned, new seals on the tank hatches.
Fuel strum tank cleaned
New ”SOLE” 20Kw generator installed with new starter battery
All new bronze through hull valves fitted

Electrical:

7 new below floor lamps installed to lazerette, engine room, tanks gallery, forward bilge and forepeak tool room
New 220v sockets throughout with USB facility
New 24v USB sockets in all cabins
All light switches checked and re-wired as necessary
LED strip lighting beneath saloon settee and in guest en suites
Substantial re-wire update, and removal of defunct or poorly installed wiring
New spreader lights, steaming and mast head lights
New crew shower tray pump, deck wash pump, grey water tank pump, owners cabin shower tray pump
New air horn system
12 x 200Ah new domestic batteries installed
2 x new engine starter batteries

Port guest cabin, new Jabsco electric WC – direct overboard
Owners cabin, new Jabsco electric WC connected to 84L black tank and with overboard option
