Kaléa was shipped back to Cowes from Genoa in April 2019 where the owner undertook a substantial restoration, finally launching in June 2023.

Gunwale and covering board stripped, covering board replaced in way of chain plates, 7 new gunwale stanchions, gunwale rebuilt as required and all finished in 3 coats of Penguard epoxy primer/undercoat and 2 coats International Perfection cream
Hull Structure:

Removal of chain plates and inner grounding plates and substantial repairs to the mid-ships topside planking, beam shelves and frames – see separate listing detail

Old pitch removed from the bilge in the main mast area and two new coats of pitch burned in

Bilges cleaned and painted through, steel floors brushed and painted with red oxide, all finished in 2 coats of Danboline grey

2 x Ballast bolts removed, inspected and replaced

Short and repaired planks below waterline replace with greater lengths, rivet fastened through the laminated frames and with butt blocks
